Dr. Fabian Bergkemper studied Biology at the Technical University Munich with particular focus on microbiology. He completed the master’s course there in the year 2013. During his thesis he focused on the functional analysis of native and recombinant bacterial enzymes for the production of bioenergy.

He subsequently received his doctorate at the Research Unit for Comparative Microbiome Analysis (COMI) at the Helmholtz Center Munich in the course of a research project founded by the German Research Foundation. The main focus was on whole-genome sequencing of environmental samples, the establishment of primer systems for temporal and spatial quantification of marker genes and amplicon sequencing.

In 2017, Fabian Bergkemper joined Beckord & Niedlich as a patent professional and qualified as German Patent Attorney in 2020.
